Marco’s Pizza ® Franchise Family Helps Oklahoma Tornado Victims

Marco’s Pizza ® leaps into action to offer relief to victims of devastating May tornado

marcos tornado reliefAlmost as soon as the powerful tornado that devastated the town of Moore, Okla., on Monday had dissipated, the Marco’s Pizza ® Franchise family sprang into action to help those in need. Area Representatives and franchise owners Kevin and Laurel Wilkerson were thankfully safe, and they expressed gratitude for all the well-wishes and messages pouring in.

Marco’s immediately began offering donations for desperately needed supplies such as food, water, shelter, toiletries and other necessities. In addition, relief is being offered to affected Marco’s Pizza ® members throughout the area as well as to the greater community. The Moore store parking lot served as a Red Cross Relief staging area, and Marco’s Pizza ® Distribution (MPD) has been loading trucks in the days since the storm with supplies bought with donations.

Marco’s coordinated a nationwide effort and teamed with local groups such as Powerhouse Church in Moore, Okla., to help with relief efforts. Thanks to the generosity of Marco’s owners, staff members, suppliers and customers, the Marco’s Pizza ® family has shipped trailer-tractors full of supplies including water, food, clothing, pet food, toiletries, cleaning supplies, batteries and more. In addition, Marco’s donated the supplies to provide 18,000 pizzas for volunteers and victims.

Marco’s stores across the country also participated in a fundraiser for storm relief in which they donated $1 per large pizza sold during the week following the storm; many stores have continued to hold the fund drive. Donations will support housing and relief to Marco’s family members and will help the Red Cross provide housing and food to others over the coming months.
