Entrepreneur Magazine Names Marco’s Pizza ® Franchise a Top Opportunity
Marco’s Pizza ® cracks the top 100 on Entrepreneur magazine’s annual Franchise 500 list
Marco’s Pizza ® moved higher for the fifth consecutive year on Entrepreneur magazine’s prestigious Franchise 500, an annual guide to top franchise opportunities for savvy entrepreneurs.
Marco’s focus on quality and rapid growth in 2014 helped the company shoot up 10 places from a year ago, breaking the 100 mark at No. 95. It is Marco’s highest-ever ranking on the Franchise 500.
Marco’s Pizza ® opened its 500th store in June 2014 and now has more than 600 locations. The franchise is quickly approaching its target of 1,000 stores across the U.S. by early 2017. Plans are under way to expand internationally to serve growing demand in India, Saudi Arabia, Asia and Africa.
The pace of growth is exceeding the company’s projections by 40%, placing the company on track to achieve its goal of becoming the country’s fourth-largest pizza chain.
“At Marco’s, our focus on quality sets us apart. We strive to make the perfect pie, every time. Our goal is to own the ‘better pizza’ segment the way Five Guys did with burgers. There are a lot of people out there competing to make a cheaper pizza. We want customers who come to us because our pizza is the best, most authentically Italian pie there is,” says CEO Jack Butorac.
Marco’s is growing as franchisees open stores in prime locations nationwide. Competing chains have saturated their markets with tens of thousands of locations, but Marco’s has top locations available for new restaurants and is quickly gaining market share in the $40 billion annual U.S. pizza market.
At a time when 91% of Americans eat pizza at least once a month, people are increasingly choosing the quality pizza that is synonymous with the Marco’s name. At Marco’s, we make our dough fresh in stores every day. Every pizza is topped with premium meats, cheeses that are never frozen, vegetables prepared in-store and sauce made from a hybrid tomato developed especially for Marco’s.
Marco’s investors can expect to pay, on average, $350,000 for a Marco’s Pizza ® franchise, with a franchise fee of $25,000. They will need a net worth of $350,000 and $100,000 in liquid assets.
