Marco’s Pizza Franchise and Family Video’s Relationship Generates Social Media Buzz
Pizza and movies make for a profitable partnership as Marco’s opens in more than 100 Family Video locations
Marco’s Pizza has more than doubled its national footprint since joining forces with Family Video in 2012. In 2014, the duo experienced phenomenal growth with the opening of 52 locations.
“We could not be more pleased with the joint success of our innovative partnership,” said Bryon Stephens, President and COO of Marco’s Pizza. “With its unique property ownership model and service-oriented culture, joining forces with Family Video has been a seamless venture that has enabled us to expedite our expansion plans while further setting Marco’s Pizza apart in the burgeoning pizza segment.”
The Marco’s Pizza-Family Video coupling takes convenience to a whole new level, offering the pickup or delivery of both pizza and a movie. Our fast-growing pizza franchise has an order window inside most Family Video locations for easy carryout service. Delivery customers benefit, too, because Family Video offers delivery of movies with online pizza orders, and people can give their movies to pizza delivery drivers to take back to the store.
At Marco’s Pizza, one of the nation’s fastest-growing pizza franchises in the country, we pride ourselves in keeping Marco’s at the top of the better pizza category. Marco’s Pizza is handmade in the Italian tradition, using fresh, never-frozen cheeses, making the dough in stores daily and using only premium meats and vegetables. Founded in Toledo in 1978, we are the only Top 20 pizza chain founded by a native Italian.
Social media buzzing about combo
In the past few months, customers have chatted on Reddit.com about the great convenience and smart idea of having our Marco’s Pizza franchise and the video chain in one location.
A few months ago, on reddit.com, SpigotBlister posted a picture of a Marco’s pizza order window with these words: “This movie rental place has a hole in the wall so that you can order pizza from next door.”
Some 1,827 people commented on the post. One comment was from a poster called, EveryOtherTime: “There are a few near my house, and my husband usually makes it a point to request movie night just to get the pizza. Joke’s on him though, I’m pregnant and there is no limit to the amount of pizza nights I’ll entertain!”
On the photo-entertainment website, The Chive, a person posted the picture from reddit.com saying, “It’s….it’s glorious.” This picture was then retweeted 60 times.
The Chicago Tribune, ABC News, and Forbes have done articles about our venture, too, highlighting how it helps those who don’t want to leave their comfy homes and busy families.
Plans to expand combo locations
About 150 conversions are projected for the next four years, creating more than 2,000 new jobs and making pizza-and-a-rental-movie a must-have.
With a $40 billion U.S. pizza market that continues to grow at a rate of about one to two percent per year, Marco’s Pizza has plans to open 175 new stores this year, averaging one new store opening every other day. Our pizza franchise is preparing to quadruple our store count in the coming five to seven years.
Already, Marco’s Pizza has opened more than 600 franchises, with a goal of 1,000 by 2017. Marco’s Pizza operates stores in 29 U.S. states from California to Florida and has locations in the Bahamas and Panama. Plans are under way to expand internationally to serve growing demand in India, Saudi Arabia, and other countries in Asia and Africa.
